The Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, one of the youngest in the Sri Lankan university system was established in 1999 by upgrading the Wayamba Campus of Rajarata University and adding two new Faculties. It has a mandate to produce Graduates who would fit into sectors in the Sri Lankan economy presently lacking in trained human resources. The programs also have a practical bias with the aim of fostering employability; every program includes, therefore, a mandatory attachment to an Industrial establishment in their final Semester.
