On behalf of the Alumni formation committee, I am privileged to issue this message with great as pioneers who contributed to complete the task in forming an Alumni Association of the faculties of Makandura premises of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka.
The Alumni formation committee was formed at a meeting attended by graduates of the university, on the last batch day held at 04.02. 2014. In this meeting, an initial discussion was held to finalize the activities related to the establishment of this Alumini Association.
Since, the preparation of a well-documented constitution had been felt an essential prerequisite; the committee drafted the constitution AS the first step. Subsequently, the activities related to formation of this Association were carried out under the guidance of the Vice Chancellor of Wayamba University.
In order to make this effort a success, we had numerous assistances from University administration, especially the Vice Chancellor, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture & plantation Management as well as the dedicated graduates of the previous batches.
Therefore, I hereby take this opportunity thank all those who guided & cooperated with us to succeed in organizing this inaugural meeting of Alumni Association of the faculties of Makandura Premises , University of Wayamba .
It is with great pleasure that I send this message to the souvenir issued on the occasion of the inaugural meeting of the Alumni association of the Faculties of Makandura Premises of the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. During the past decade the Faculty of Agriculture and Plantation management has added more than 500 Agriculture graduates to the country and to have Alumni relationship with the university has become an important need of the day. All alumni have something to offer to the university and the university too have a range of offers whether, you want further learning, a career change or useful contacts for its alumni. I congratulate the past students of the two faculties of the Makandura premises for organizing this inaugural meeting and wish this meeting will raise awareness about the value of staying touch with the University after graduation.
Message from the Vice-Chancellor, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka
It is a pleasure to write this message for the souvenir to mark the formation of an Alumni Association at the Makandura Premises on 10th August 2014. I am happy to note that the graduates of the Faculties of Agriculture & Plantation Management and Livestock, Fisheries & Nutrition have combined efforts to establish an Alumni Association.
Unless a graduate joins the University as a staff member, they lose touch with the University once they launch into their diverse careers in Sri Lanka or abroad. Through an Alumni Association they would be able to continue to liaise with the University which has brought them to the positions they are in and have interaction with each other as well as with the staff and students. I am sure that the activities planned by the newly formed Alumni Association would be of great benefit to the University.
I take this opportunity to congratulate the Members of the Alumni Association of the Makandura Premises and wish them all success in their future activities.
