It serves as a valuable platform for academics, administrative staff, and postgraduate students to share the findings of their research projects.

Objective
The primary objective of WURC 2025 is to provide a knowledge-sharing platform, enabling participants to present and discuss the outcomes of their research projects. This inclusive event brings together researchers from various disciplines, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and showcasing the University’s commitment to excellence in research.
Overview
Under the compelling theme of “Bridging Research, Innovation and sustainability: Green Solutions for a Circular Economy” the 10 th Wayamba University Research Congress promises to be a dynamic and enlightening experience. The event is organized by the Senate Research & Higher Degrees Committee (SRHDC) of the University.
During WURC 2025, the research findings will be presented in several parallel technical sessions, covering a diverse range of topics including,

- Applied Sciences
- Business Studies & Finance
- Livestock, Fisheries and Nutrition
- Medicine
- Technology
In addition to the WURC 2025, we are delighted to host the annual Wayamba University Research Award (WURA) ceremony. This prestigious event aims to recognize and appreciate the scientific contributions made by the University’s esteemed staff.

Dr.Nadeesha Chandrasena is an urban planner and award-winning inventor with over a decade of experience in sustainable infrastructure and climate resilience. She is the Founder and Director of Urban Inventors (Australia & Sri Lanka) and the Principal Inventor of the patented Solid Waste Clog-Resistant Smart Drain, an innovation that prevents flash floods, reduces plastic pollution in waterways, and provides real-time disaster early warning.
Her work has received international recognition, including the 2024 Australian Good Design Award (Best in Class – Engineering Design) and the 2025 WIPO Global Award (Environmental Category – Startup Section). Dr. Chandrasena was a finalist for MIT’s 35 Innovators Under 35 (2016) and was honoured as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Sri Lankans in 2017.
Her projects are currently being prepared for pilot implementation across Asia and Europe, with ongoing collaborations involving research institutions, industry, and UN agencies.
Passionate about bridging research and real-world application, Dr. Chandrasena empowers youth, communities, and policymakers to co-design sustainable solutions for global urban challenges. She is also a proud mother of three and wife of Mr. Berty Lokuliyana.
