Professor Kohei Shimasaki from Hiroshima University delivered an informative presentation at the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka (WUSL), focusing on his sensor-based research work and its potential applications in addressing real-world challenges through innovative technological solutions.
The presentation provided an opportunity to explore possible areas of academic and research collaboration between Hiroshima University and the Faculty of Applied Sciences of Wayamba University. The session was organized by Mr. J.R.K.C. Jayakody, Director of ICT, Wayamba University, and was attended by a large number of participants, including academic staff and lecturers from the university.
The discussion highlighted the potential for further collaboration in areas related to sensor technologies, artificial intelligence, data-driven solutions, and interdisciplinary research. The event also provided an opportunity for academic staff to exchange ideas and identify possible areas for future joint research and knowledge sharing.
Following the presentation, Professor Deegahawathura, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, met with Professor Shimasaki and discussed opportunities for developing academic and research connections between the two institutions.
Before his departure, Professor Shimasaki also met with Professor E.M.P. Ekanayake, Vice Chancellor of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. During the meeting, they discussed possible avenues for future collaboration, joint research activities, academic exchange, and strengthening institutional relationships between the two universities.
The visit and discussions marked a positive step towards establishing stronger international academic and research collaborations and creating opportunities for future joint initiatives between Wayamba University and Hiroshima University.
