Prof. Rońan Long, Director of World Maritime University ((WMU)- Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute in Sweden, a leader in research , teaching, advocacy for ocean matters, specially the Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ), met the Vice Chancellor of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka on 7th September 2026. The discussions focused on advancing marine sciences and youth involvement as well as the role of island nations in driving tomorrow’s ocean governance. The Vice Chancellor Prof. EMP Ekanayake and Prof. Long had a fruitful discussion on how Wayamba University of Sri Lanka could contribute to global needs. Prof. Long , before meeting the Vice Chancellor, conducted a very insightful webinar at Wayamba University organised by student society AQRES, for a packed audience live casted for the benefit of other parties.
