A research team from the Department of Plantation Management of Faculty of Agriculture and Plantation Management in Wayamba University of Sri Lanka (WUSL) innovated a new Sports Drink named “Wayamba SporTea” containing Tea. This innovation won the gold medal at the 2nd National Symposium on Sustainable Plantation Management, 2020 organized by National Institute of Plantation Management, as the best research paper titled Bioactive Compounds and Antioxidant Capacity of a Sports Drink Containing Tea (Camellia sinensis L.) appraising the meritorious work done by Ms. S.C.P. Kudagama, Prof. D.C. Abeysinghe, Dr. Gamika Prathapasinghe and Mr. A.D.R. Gunawardene.
