IEEEOPOLIS

We launched our debut e-magazine “IEEEOPOLIS” on 1st June 2021. This e-magazine contains the selected articles from the article writing competition which was open to undergraduates of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka from 24th December 2020 to 14th January 2021.

The participants were required to write articles on the theme “Digital technologies in the public-health response to COVID-19,” which was provided by the organizing committee. We held this competition to improve the competitors’ writing skills and to give a platform for everyone who wants to unleash their inner writer. It was a great opportunity for all of the participants to make their spare time at home effectively with the prevailing situation. The organizing committee imposed certain rules and regulations on the acceptance of articles. The word limit was 500 words, and all articles had to be written in English.

After receiving a large number of submissions, Dr. Tharinda Vidanagama, the Student Branch Counselor, selected the best articles. Selected articles were compiled into an e-magazine named “IEEEOPOLIS” and it was published on the SB’s Facebook page. Along with the selected articles, the magazine featured an introduction to the IEEE SB and events hosted by the SB. The main advantage of this magazine is that it will keep the audience updated about the digital technologies that were used in the public health sector during the Covid-19 pandemic. This magazine provides insight into the participants’ creativity in article writing as well as a variety of information on the topic. These articles inspire others, including competitors, to write technical articles and keep up with emerging technology. This magazine is available to everyone who enjoys reading articles and learning about new technology. In the conclusion, the IEEE Wayamba University of Sri Lanka Student Branch glad about the success of the magazine launch with compliments received.
