MILCO Collaborates with WUSL for R&D in Dairy Product Processing Technology at Its Newest Facility at Badalgama

On the invitation of the Chairman Mr. Lasantha Wickramasinghe and the General Manager (Products & Operations) Mr. Indrajith Fernando of the MILCO (PVT.) LTD., the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka (WUSL) has initiated a collaborative research and development program on dairy products.

The team comprises of the globally recognized nanotechnologist Snr. Prof. CAN Fernando and food and agriculture related senior scientists and academic administrators from the Makandura premises of the WUSL and lead by the Vice-Chancellor Snr. Prof. Udith K. Jayasinghe. The focus is to carry out a comprehensive longstanding research and development program on dairy product processing and technology development in the MILCO’s billions worth newest investment on the state-of-the-art multi-product processing facility at Badalgama with a capacity of processing 400,000 liters of milk a day. With this initiative, it would be acclaimed as one of the innovative research and development-oriented collaborations in the country between a publicly funded private enterprise and the academic and student experts where the WUSL students shall offer their service under the guidance of the MILCO management and the WUSL scientists as ‘Facility Operators’ on a well-set program of dairy research and service promotion.
