Prof. Udith K. Jayasinghe-Mudalige

Prof. Udith K. Jayasinghe-Mudalige, the Chair Professor of Dept. of Agribusiness Management, has been awarded the ‘Most Outstanding Senior Researcher – 2016’ of the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka (WUSL) in the Wayamba University Annual Research Congress held recently.

Prof. Jayasinghe-Mudalige has obtained his B.Sc. (Agriculture) degree with a First Class Honors from University of Peradeniya in 1994 followed by M.Sc. (Agric. Econ) from Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture in 1997 and Ph.D. from University of Guelph, Canada in 2004 under the Commonwealth Postgraduate Scholarship. He is a recipient of the prestigious ‘Fulbright Teaching & Research Fellowship’ in 2014/15 and the ‘Endeavour Postgraduate Research Fellowship’ in 2016/17 and served as a Visiting Professor to University of Massachusetts (USA) and Monash University (Australia).

He is a recipient of the ‘Presidential’, ‘National Research Council of Sri Lanka’ and ‘National Science Foundation of Sri Lanka’ and ‘Young Scientists’ Research Award’ in several occasions for his contribution to research and development. Further, in recognition of his contribution to higher education as an academic developer and researcher, he has been awarded a ‘Senior Fellowship’ by the Staff & Educational Development Association (SFSEDA) of the United Kingdom; ‘Certified Development Project Manager’ (CDPM®, USA), and the ‘Chartered Environmental Professional’ (CEnvP.) by the Institute of Environmental Professionals, Sri Lanka.

He served as a Team leader/Collaborating Researcher to over 50 international/national research and development grants and consultations and the outcomes of which were published in the form of over 125 peer-reviewed journal articles, country reports and textbooks etc. and presented in more than 250 research forums held locally and in as many as 20 countries. He also conducted a large number of international/local institutional and program reviews and more than 200 seminars/workshops in almost all national universities and higher education institutes and other institutions in Sri Lanka on the subjects related to academic, research, staff and professional development. He has been offered the Full/Life Membership in more than 20 global and local professional bodies, including the IASSL, IEPSL, INSEE, NSSL, SANDEE, SAEA, SEA, SHE, SLAAS, SLAFAR, SLAIHEE, SLAQ etc.
