Congratulations! Breakthrough Discovery of Two New Plant Species by FAPM-WUSL and Research Team

Two new critically endangered, endemic Lagenandra species were discovered from the wet zone of Sri Lanka by the research team lead by Prof. Kapila Yakandawala in Faculty of Agriculture and Plantation Management (FAPM) of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka (WUSL). 
 
One species is named after Sri Lanka as  Lagenandra srilankensis and the other species is named after the Kalugala Forest Reserve as Lagenandra kalugalensis

According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) guidelines, both species are considered under the Critically Endangered category.
The wok is published in an international journal Phytotaxa.
